Since 1981, The Oaks of Pasadena has proudly served as a welcoming haven for older adults seeking vibrant independent living. As one of the earliest “55+” communities in Pasadena, The Oaks has built a lasting reputation for exceptional hospitality, beautifully maintained grounds, and personalized service that feels like home. Next door to The Oaks, The Retreat is available for seniors who need help with daily activities (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, or medication management. Both The Oaks and The Retreat are part of our commitment to meeting each resident’s needs with warmth, dignity, and care.
Independent Living at The Oaks: Comfortable Living with Thoughtful Amenities
At The Oaks, we believe your home should reflect your personal style and comfort. Each of our 86 thoughtfully designed apartments features a private patio or balcony, a cozy gas fireplace in one- and two-bedroom layouts, and either a full-size kitchen or convenient kitchenette depending on the floor plan. With 24-hour emergency call systems in every apartment and a pet-friendly philosophy, The Oaks is a place where residents—and their furry companions—can truly feel at home.
Many residents have personalized their apartments with custom paint colors and flooring, tasteful enhancements such as custom cabinetry, backsplashes and counters, built-in shelving, walk-in showers, fireplace surrounds, recessed lighting, skylights and more. Whether working with one of our trusted contractors or a licensed professional of their own choosing, residents can create a living space that’s uniquely theirs. We’re here to support that journey every step of the way.
Life at The Oaks of Pasadena is all about comfort, connection, and convenience. Residents enjoy delicious daily dining with a variety of entrées and à la carte options served in our elegant restaurant-style dining room. Our dedicated team provides housekeeping and laundry services, local transportation, and assigned underground parking to make everyday living effortless. A full calendar of social, recreational, and educational activities offers opportunities to learn, grow, and connect with neighbors.
Assisted Living at The Retreat: Personalized Care in a Home-Like Setting
Next door to The Oaks, The Retreat offers a warm, residential alternative for older adults who benefit from extra support in daily living. Housed in a former physician’s home, this licensed assisted living residence accommodates up to nine residents in an intimate, truly home‑like environment. Residents maintain as much independence as possible while receiving 24/7 assistance with bathing, dressing, meals, medication management, and other activities of daily living. Although The Retreat is not a skilled nursing facility, it provides compassionate, personalized care with an emphasis on comfort, dignity, and peace of mind.
What makes The Retreat especially distinctive is that residents enjoy full access to the amenities and lifestyle next door at The Oaks of Pasadena. This includes restaurant‑style fine dining, a full calendar of social, recreational, and educational programs, and the freedom to enjoy our 27 acres of lush grounds, walking paths, gardens, arboretum, swimming pool, jacuzzi, and complimentary shuttle service. Residents of The Retreat truly experience the best of both worlds—the security and support of assisted living paired with the vibrancy, beauty, and independence of our larger community.
Because The Retreat is a small, peaceful, and homelike setting, we typically host two to three open house events per year rather than offering frequent individual tours, ensuring minimal disruption to our residents’ daily routines. We maintain a waitlist for families interested in future availability, and those on the list are invited to all open house events. In the event of a vacancy, we are happy to arrange individual tours for prospective residents and their families. Current residents of The Oaks are given priority for openings, but we warmly welcome inquiries from individuals and families outside our community who wish to join the waitlist.
